Mauricio Saravia

Mauricio Saravia - Painter, Poet and Composer
January 27th.,1970  -- December 12th., 2008

Artist Mauricio Saravia, a living miracle, was, is and will forever be an inspiration to us all.
As a survivor of the rare terminal syndrome, Mcune Albright, he fought a hard and brave battle. Yet he was always bright and cheery, always ready to take life on and look at its brightest side.

He truly honored this gift we all too often take for granted. He never took his condition personally nor let his spirit, his soul be limited by the accidental limitations of his physical being.

He cared for it with the gentleness usually directed at a child or an elder. But his 'self' always shone through -- everyone always spoke of how, after meeting him, in a short time, the physical gave way to the spiritual - and there he was - in all his beauty.

His passion for life and art took him on travels to all corners of our planet and finally to Hollywood, California where he settled in January 2005. Here, he worked on many shorts, held several art shows, was photographed and interviewed innumerable times, attended many Red Carpet Events where he was introduced as a new talent, and was the subject of a documentary film about his life, a book about his art and poetry and a children's book retracing his life's journey. (all soon to be released - stay tuned).

It was and remains his wish that his work continue to inspire those who may be suffering, those who feel marginalized. Wherever he lived, South America, New York, Denver and Los Angeles, Saravia always socialized and made friends. He also lectured, gave inspirational speeches and read his poetry at many events, primary, middle and High Schools.

Saravia's paintings, his music and his poetry are the living testament to his colorful, gentle and loving soul. Today we should celebrate his amazing life and legacy instead of only grieving his passing.

We will all miss his kindness, gentleness and warmth as well as his inspirational approach to life.

His suffering has come to an end but his legacy as an artist and philosopher is only beginning and will live on through you, through your love for him. Please take him with you and keep him in your hearts.
